Achievements
Long-term planning for new communities in the North West and South West Growth Centres began in 2005.
- Jun 2006 - The first round of releases were secured, constituting 39,500 lots and land for employment in both Growth Centres
- Oct 2006 - The Growth Centres Development Code is released, setting out the 'planning rules' to guide new development from the initial staging for release, to the design of a Precinct, to how a neighbourhood will look on the ground.
- Dec 2006 - Confirmed the Special Infrastructure Contribution, a levy to help fund key State infrastructure
- Nov 2007 - First sod turned in Colebee Precinct in the North West Growth Centre
- Dec 2007 - Implemented Biodiversity Certification. This means the biodiversity values of the Growth Centres - and areas outside the Growth Centres - will be better protected without having to re-visit threatened species assessments through site by site development proposals.
- Dec 2007 - Rezoned Oran Park and Turner Road Precincts for 12,000 new dwellings within 16 months of their release
- May 2008 - Confirmed plans for 6,100 dwellings in Edmondson Park Precinct
- Jun 2008 - Released Marsden Park Industrial for planning
- Dec 2008 - Rezoned North Kellyville for 4,500 new dwellings
- Aug 2009 - Rezoned Riverstone West, an employment Precinct with potential to accommodate 12,000 jobs
- Oct 2009 - Released five more Precincts for planning -- Austral, Leppington North, Box Hill, Box Hill Industrial and Schofields
- May 2010 - Rezoned Riverstone and Alex Avenue Precincts for 15,300 new homes
- Nov 2010 - Rezoned Marsden Park Industrial Precinct to accommodate 10,000 jobs and 1,200 homes
- Dec 2010 - Area 20 Precinct placed on exhibition
