Release of Leppington & East Leppington Precincts for planning
Release of Leppington & East Leppington Precincts for planning

Leppington

Leppington Precinct was one of two precincts released for planning in November 2011 by the Minister for Planning & Infrastructure .

The 464-hectare precinct sits entirely within Camden local government area. A broadly triangular precinct, it is bounded by Camden Valley Way on the east, Ingleburn Road to Eastwood Road in the north, and south east along Kemps Creek.

The Precinct currently comprises small rural holdings, farming lands, market gardens and some residential areas. Fully developed, it is expected to accommodate some 8,000 dwellings for approximately 22,000 future residents.

Leppington Precinct is being planned simultaneously with the adjoining East Leppington Precinct.

Both Precincts sit south of the South West Rail Link and Leppington North Precinct, which is currently being planned to include a future Major Centre and railway station.

The simultaneous release of Leppington and East Leppington Precincts represents a logical progression because of their proximity to transport and a planned Major Centre at Leppington.

Future residents will be able to access Camden Valley Way and the South West Rail Link, and support the early development of the Leppington Major Centre.

Leppington Boundary Review

A Boundary Review is currently being undertaken for the Leppington Precinct to confirm the exact boundary.

The submission period for this review is now closed and we thank everyone who sent in  a submission. The Review Panel met on March 9 2012 to evaluate all the submissions received and to make a recommendation to the Minister for Planning and Infrastructure. The outcome of the Minister's decision will be notified.

Future land uses in the Precinct , as informed by the South West Growth Centre Structure Plan, are not reviewed as part of the Boundary Review process.

The final plan for the Leppington Precinct, which will indicate future land uses, will be developed through the Precinct Planning Process involving extensive studies and separate community consultation.

Information sessions for landowners are being planned for April 2012. The purpose of these sessions is to provide an overview of the Precinct Planning Process and an opportunity to meet the team involved.

All landowners in the Precinct will be informed of the date and venue for the sessions in the near future.
